Bob Crofut
|
|
|
Recognized for his extensive research and the unique ability to evoke the emotional atmosphere of the past, Crofut’s work has appeared in such magazines as the National Geographic, Time, Smithsonian Magazine, American Heritage, Golf, and Golf Digest. His work has also been sought after by major corporations, among them MGM, NBC, IBM, Ford, and the Exxon Corporation. His art has been displayed widely in galleries, museums, and private collections, and he is included in the prestigious publication, The Illustrator in America.
His paintings have exhibited in the USGA Golf House Museum tributes to Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Gene Sarazen and Sam Snead. His series of paintings depicting the golf legends down through time has become one of Bob’s most sought after and treasured works. In his paintings, the rich heritage of our golfing history has been brought to life in the timeless style that has become the distinctive trademark of the artist’s work. “I try to create an evocative sense of time and place that lends a haunting, emotional quality to my paintings. It is a world where things are half real and half remembered, softened by memory but still vivid and compelling.”
He further describes his paintings as artistic time capsules that transport the viewer to a congenial, unhurried era, far from the distractions of modern life. “When someone looks at my work I want it to release them from the present and allow them to reminisce for a moment before returning their daily activities refreshed and uplifted.”
Bob Crofut was born and raised in Ridgefield, CT where his family has lived for generations. He holds a BFA from Tufts University and Boston Museum School of Fine Arts.

RUSTY JONES
Bio
Rusty Jones is well known for his 20 plus years as a contributing artist for Golf Illustrated Magazine where he provided the instructional illustrations for the “Stroke Shavers” section of the magazine. An accomplished landscape painter with representation in six fine art galleries, it was only natural for Rusty to combine his natural artistic abilities with the game he enjoys so much.
Rusty’s golf art has appeared in Golf Illustrated Magazine, Golf Magazine, the Golf Journal, the Masters Journal and Golf House Museum of Golf. Rusty’s others sports art accomplishments include illustrations for the Olympics, the Dallas Cowboys, the Dallas Mavericks, the Dallas Blackhawks and the National Hole-In-One Association.
For Rusty no other sport connects the fan to the professional athlete like golf. “I will never put on pads and sprint onto the football field of the Super Bowel, but I can pay a green fee and tee it up on the exact courses where legends have walked.”

When something is created, it is not art. It only becomes art when it is appreciated by someone other than the artist. This is the key and driving force behind the art I create. To be creative, is to exert one's mental or physical powers, often under difficult circumstances and at times, to the point of exhaustion. You need to satisfy yourself and your audience, even if you are a self taught artist, constantly adapting to new styles and ideas..... I was fortunate to be born with a God given talent in the early sixties, to artistic parents in Pretoria, South Africa. Yet never realizing that this talent would one day allow me to realize a childhood dream of traveling to the United State of America. I started to draw architectural design for residential homes, unofficially, when I was 5 years old. At the age of 10 I had already mastered pastel portraits of family and friends although I had no official training or art education. While working as an artist in South Africa, I created many paintings from African Wildlife to International Rugby by using pastels and pencil. People in South Africa have recognized my artwork as a one of a kind, including, but not limited to former South Africa President, Nelson Mandela, whom in fact signed one of my pieces. I was also fortunate to have other sports legends sign my pieces like Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Tom Watson , Michael Schumacher- F1 Racing Champion and Michael Jordan.
At the age of 36, I decided to follow my dream and immigrate to the United States of America. I arrived in Houston, Texas in 1997 and experienced the very emotional spirit of the red, white, and blue - and knew I was home. I located to California where I was awarded the Juanita Crothers Fine Art Award in 1998. My talent however, is not just limited to oil paintings. I have also success with drawing cartoons and custom airbrush. In 2003 I converted to palette knives because the paint brushes did not provide me enough freedom to create my art. A new style was born. It is a pleasure to ship my art across the USA and to other parts of the world. My art can be seen in countries like the USA, South Africa, New Zealand, Canada, Australia, Japan and the UK. The pieces are not only available in original artworks but also in limited edition prints. Today, I reside in California with my beautiful American wife, Stephanie and have three children and one grandchild. Christiaan Bekker

Christiane Rancelot - Artist Bio
Christiane Rancelot is an artist born and raised in France. She studied art at Les Beaux Arts the famous french art academy. Attracted by sports, she played tennis and golf competitively, making it easy for her to express the dynamic complexity of the golf swing. She lived in Northern California and is now living in France.
"My drawings are inspired by the golf swing that is a complex movement. It has to express power, speed and precision. Playing myself at handicap 9 level, I feel comfortable with the drawing of the swing. Beside golf swing, I also like to show nowadays women with feminine attitudes, emotion and strenghness, using deep shades of black. My drawings express movement, sensuousness and strength.
Mixed technics are used as charcoal, pastels, oil, acrylic. Model is just a pretext.I don't copy but I express the model's identity through the swing in my own way, modern and dynamic . Some of my works are at the limit of abstraction, both simple and complex.

Scott Medlock
|
|
|
|
Scott Medlock is one of America’s foremost artists. His work is becoming legendary in the world of art, particularly through his fine art reproductions. Although recently he has concentrated on the world of golf, his past successes include abstract painting, children’s book illustrations, magazine covers and paintings for major advertising campaigns. He was commissioned to be one of the official artists for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. Medlock has created and “sold out” numerous limited edition reproductions.
His paintings involve what historians refer to as the “psychological moment,” the inner world of a golfer setting up an important putt, the one-on-one competitiveness of Bill Russell and Wilt Chamblerlin, the emotionally charged environment of Yankee Stadium as Babe Ruth bids farewell to his fans. Medlock’s keen sense of observation draws him to the subtle rather than the obvious.
He is widely acclaimed for his unique ability to express an emotion by capturing a moment in time. His paintings give the viewer much more than the pleasures of the visual world. His work stimulates all the senses. Though Medlock may portray figures in action, fundamentally he communicates the experience itself. And this is the genius of Medlock. Scott bridges the categories of illustration and fine art to create works of topical interest and enduring value. Medlock’s enormous talent surfaced early, graduating from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA at 22. Now just 34 years of age, he has received awards of excellence from NEW YORK SOCIETY OF ILLUSTRATORS, SOCIETY OF ILLUSTRATORS OF LOS ANGELES, EUROPEAN ILLUSTRATORS SOCIETY, CHILDRENS BOOK ILLUSTRATOR OF THE YEAR and AMERICAN BOOKSELLER – PICK OF THE LIST AWARD. |
